## Reminder texts for clients in Ireland, sent from Google Calendar

Type the client's mobile number into the appointment in Google Calendar and Etisia texts them before they're due in. Bookings still come in by phone, email or at reception, just as before.

## SMS reminders from the diary you already keep

Etisia sends SMS reminders for Google Calendar users in Ireland: when an appointment has a client's mobile number in it, Etisia texts that client before the visit. The text goes to your client, not to you, and it only goes one way; you can add a link that lets them cancel.

### The short version

- **Who receives the text:** The client named on the appointment, on their own mobile. Nothing for them to download or sign up to.
- **How Etisia gets the number:** From the title, description, location or guest list of the event, or from your saved contacts when the title carries the client's full name.
- **Can the client reply?:** No, the text is one-way. If you switch on the cancel link, the client can cancel through it.
- **The price:** €20/mo billed yearly (tax excl) on Starter once the 21 free days are up. No card is needed to begin.
- **How to get started:** Sign up on this page and connect your Google Calendar once. After that you book as usual, and the reminders go out by themselves.

## How text reminders from Google Calendar work

1. **Connect the calendar you book into** - Log in with your Google account and pick the calendar that holds your appointments. Any calendar you own or are allowed to edit can be connected, and Etisia leaves your other calendars alone.
2. **Put the client's mobile number in the event** - Add it to the title or description of the event. Once an event carries a full name and a number, Etisia stores the client, so for later bookings the full name on its own will do. [Adding a client's number, step by step](https://www.etisia.com/google-calendar/add-client-phone-number)
3. **The client gets a text before the visit** - By default the text goes out the day before. You can pick other set times, from a month ahead down to 15 minutes before, and every plan allows up to 3 reminder times ([picking reminder times](https://www.etisia.com/google-calendar/set-reminder-timing)). Quiet hours are on from the start: nothing goes out between 22:00 and 07:00, and a reminder due in that window is sent at around 20:00 instead. You'll see “(SMS ready ✅)” in the event title, then “(SMS sent ✅)”.

## What your client's reminder text looks like

Clients see the day, the time on the 24-hour clock and the sign-off you set, such as your business name. This is the default text as Etisia sends it the day before a 15:30 appointment, here with the cancel link switched on.

> Hello, you have an appointment with us tomorrow, October 8, 2026 at 15:30. Best regards, Beauty Studio. Cancel at https://eti.is/r4Tn8w.

- **No app for the client.** It lands like any other text. Nobody downloads anything, makes an account or accepts a calendar invite.
- **Cancelling, only if you allow it.** If you switch the cancel link on, the client opens it, enters the mobile number the text came to and presses “Yes, cancel the appointment”. Etisia takes the booking out of your Google Calendar and sends you an email.
- **No replies.** In Ireland, texts come from a sender name rather than a mobile number, so clients can't text back. A client who needs to change something rings you, or uses the cancel link if you've switched it on.
- **Your own words, if you like.** Keep the default, choose another ready-made reminder or type your own wording. Etisia fills in the day and time, and the location when the event has one.

## Fits however bookings reach your diary

A booking taken over the phone, by email, at reception or written into Google Calendar by another tool works the same way: once it's in your connected calendar along with the client's mobile number, or the full name of someone in your saved contacts, Etisia can send the reminder.

### Etisia reads the number from

- the title of the event
- its description, location or guest list
- your saved contacts, when the full name matches

### Nothing is sent when

- Etisia cannot find the client’s number (the event title says so)
- the client's number isn't Irish, such as a +44 mobile from Northern Ireland
- the event runs all day
- it's in a calendar you haven't connected
- you delete it before the reminder is due
- your plan's texts for the month have run out

## What it costs in Ireland, after a 21-day trial

The first 21 days cost nothing and need no card; you're only charged if you choose a plan. Up to 60 free SMS are added as you set up, so you can try the reminders with your own clients first. Prices are in euro and exclude VAT.

These are the prices for businesses in Ireland, in euro.

## Other ways Irish businesses send reminder texts

Google Calendar won't text your clients for you, so these are the usual alternatives.

| | Booking system | Bulk SMS website | Etisia |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Where bookings live | Inside the booking system | In a list you upload or type in | In your own Google Calendar |
| What changes for you | You and your clients move to a new way of booking | You send each batch of texts yourself | Nothing, apart from adding the client's number |
| Can clients reply? | Depends on the system | Depends on the provider | No, but you can add a cancel link |
| How you pay | A monthly fee, often with more features | Usually per text or per bundle | From €20/mo billed yearly (tax excl) |

## Questions from businesses in Ireland

### Doesn't Google Calendar text my clients by itself?

No. Google Calendar's own reminders go to you, as notifications or emails, and Google stopped sending SMS notifications in January 2019; Etisia is what texts your client. [What Google Calendar can and can't send](https://www.etisia.com/google-calendar/can-google-calendar-send-text-reminders)

### Can clients reply to the reminder?

No. Texts only go one way, so a reply never reaches you. When the cancel link is switched on, a client can cancel by opening it and entering their mobile number. To move a booking, they ring or email you as normal.

### Is there a free trial?

Yes: 21 days, and you don't need a card to start. After that, Starter is €20/mo billed yearly (tax excl). There's no free plan.

### What does it cost in Ireland, and is VAT included?

VAT is not included in the prices shown. Starter is €24/mo billed monthly (tax excl), or €240 a year (tax excl). Pro covers up to 3 Google Calendars for €39/mo billed monthly (tax excl).

### Where does Etisia find the client's number?

In the title, description, location or guest list of the event, or in your saved contacts. No number means no text, and the event title shows that.

### I already use a booking system. Do I need Etisia?

Probably not: most booking systems send their own reminders. Etisia is for businesses that keep their appointments in Google Calendar and would rather not move to a booking system.

### Do my clients need an app?

No. The reminder is an ordinary text on their mobile, with nothing to install and no account to create.

### What happens to the reminder if I move or delete the appointment?

Move it in Google Calendar and a reminder that hasn't gone out yet follows the new time. Delete it and no text is sent. A reminder that has already gone out isn't sent again.
