Your privacy notice or booking terms should explain that contact details may be used for appointment reminders, including the purpose and lawful basis for processing. What about PECR and marketing texts?
Promotional texts are treated differently from basic appointment reminders. ICO guidance says marketing emails and texts to individuals generally require specific consent, unless the limited soft opt-in applies for existing customers, and recipients must have a clear way to opt out. What should a photography SMS reminder include?
Keep it short: business name, appointment date, time, and a cancellation or change link. Avoid private details such as children's names, personal reasons for the shoot, payment details, sensitive locations, image-use permissions or anything that would be awkward if another person saw the message.
