A text reminder service that works from your Google Calendar
Etisia is a text reminder service for UK businesses that adds SMS reminders for Google Calendar: once a booking holds the client's mobile number, Etisia texts them ahead of the appointment. The text is for your client, not for you, and it's one-way, so they can't reply to it. Adding a cancel link is up to you. The trial runs for 21 days without a card, then Starter costs £16/mo ex VAT, billed yearly.
In brief
- The recipient
- Your client, as a normal text on their own phone. There's no app to download and nothing to sign up for.
- Finding the number
- Etisia picks it out of the event: title, description, location or guests. Once a client is saved, their full name alone is enough.
- Replies and cancelling
- Clients can't reply; the reminder is one-way. Turn on the cancel link and they can cancel online instead.
- What you pay
- £16/mo ex VAT, billed yearly on Starter after the 21-day trial, and no card details are needed up front.
- Getting started
- Make an account here, then connect Google Calendar once. Then carry on booking as normal; the reminders send themselves.
Three steps to text reminders from your Google Calendar
-
Link the Google Calendar you take bookings in
Log in with Google and tick the calendar your appointments go in. It can be your own or one you've been allowed to edit; Etisia ignores the rest.
-
Give the booking the client's mobile number
Write it into the booking's title or description, beside their first and last name. Etisia saves the pair as a contact; after that, the full name is enough. More on adding numbers

A text goes out before they arrive
Unless you change it, the text is sent the day before. Every plan lets you set up to 3 reminder times, anything from 15 minutes to a month beforehand (choosing reminder times). Quiet hours come switched on, so no texts go out overnight (22:00 to 07:00); one due then is brought forward to about 20:00. In the event title you'll see “(SMS ready ✅)” and, once it has gone, “(SMS sent ✅)”.

Eric connects his Google account, picks a calendar and sets his clients' reminders going.

Hello, you have an appointment with us tomorrow, October 8, 2026 at 15:30. Best regards, Bramley Skin Clinic
What lands on your client's mobile
They get the day, the time on a 24-hour clock and your sign-off, usually your business name. Below is the standard wording for a 15:30 appointment tomorrow, cancel link off.
- An ordinary text. It sits with their other messages, so there's no app or account for them to bother with.
- Cancelling is up to you. Turn it on and the text ends with “Cancel at” and a short link. Your client opens it, types in the number the reminder came to and taps the cancel button. The booking then leaves your Google Calendar and Etisia emails you.
- No texting back. UK reminders are sent under a sender name, not from a mobile number, so there's nothing to reply to. Clients who need to rearrange ring you.
- Change the wording if you like. Stick with the default, pick a different ready-made reminder or write your own wording. Day and time are added for you.
It doesn't matter how the booking was made
Whether a client rings, messages, walks in or books through a tool that writes into Google Calendar, Etisia treats the booking the same. A Google Calendar appointment in a connected calendar, carrying the client's mobile or a saved contact's full name, gets its reminder. It suits sole traders and small teams, from mobile hairdressers to driving instructors.
The number can be in
- the booking's title
- the description, the location or the guest list
- a saved contact with the same full name
No reminder is sent if
- Etisia can't find a usable number (the title says so)
- the number is from outside the UK
- it's marked as an all-day event
- the calendar it's in isn't connected
- it's deleted before the send time
- your plan has no texts left for the month

Other ways to send clients a reminder
Google Calendar has no way to text a client, so people tend to use one of these. Booking software may already send reminders, so check its settings first.

Who is it for?
For businesses that book time with people. Find your profession and see how SMS reminders fit your day. Unlike a booking system, there are no services, staff or business hours to set up: add the appointment with the client's phone number and Etisia sends the reminder.
Try a reminder on your own mobile first
Once your calendar is connected, choose Immediate as the reminder timing. In daytime hours, add a test booking a few hours ahead (not all-day) with your own number in the title. Around two minutes after saving, Etisia sends you the text.
